Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The effort aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Chance for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in the autumn. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a range of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The single showcases a mix of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The group managing the initiative have clarified that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was noted for its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a few million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and showing the human dimension of the story.”

The song is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
