Major Russian Strikes Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced interruptions to water systems, according to municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a young boy was killed in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the southern area, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has increased strikes on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were laboring to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, according to city authorities.

Local officials said the urban area came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A young boy died and several individuals were injured.

The assaults come after nights of bombing campaigns in the area, parts of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already affecting gas facilities.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were anticipating additional strikes.
