An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted across a fence and reached for Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was given a sentence to more than a week in prison for being a public nuisance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the country's border control stated to news outlets.

He forced his way through camera crews and rushed toward the actress and singer, who was present at the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

The individual has a record of interrupting performances and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.

The incident sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of causing further distress to the star.

The pop star has spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a explosive incident at her show in Manchester in May 2017 killed 22 people and affected hundreds.

Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had made efforts to breach on the red carpet event multiple times, according to local news sources.

He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Security staff stopped him and pinned him down.

The man subsequently shared videos appreciating the celebrity for permitting his access and said he was "released."

Law enforcement detained him the next day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The Court Judge the judicial official was quoted by Channel News Asia as remarking that the man sought attention, noting that he was wrong to assume he would not experience repercussions.

The singer has not commented on the case.

Erivo discussed the incident to NBC, stating that she "only aimed to ensure my colleague was safe."

"I think he didn't intend us danger, but you never know with those things, and I wanted to ensure that she was OK. That was my initial reaction," she commented.
