Viktor Gyokeres signed with the Gunners from Sporting during the offseason

Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres fails to make the cut in the new manager's maiden Sweden squad, while Reds forward the talented attacker has earned a place

The Arsenal forward is scheduled to undergo more assessments this week following concerns he suffered a thigh issue in the Gunners's Premier League triumph against Burnley last weekend

The 27-year-old missed the Gunners' European win versus the Czech side on Tuesday

Isak Returns

The Liverpool striker, who has been sidelined since 22 October because of a groin problem, made the squad to play in World Cup qualifying fixtures against the Swiss team (November 15th) plus Slovenia (November 18th)

Additional Premier League Inclusions

  • Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, who is recovering from concussion
  • Magpies winger Anthony Elanga

These players were included in Potter's England-based players chosen under former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham coach the new Swedish coach

The New Manager's Appointment

The English manager took over the Swedish federation originally on a short-term basis on 20 October, under four weeks following his departure from West Ham

Previous boss Jon Dahl Tomasson was fired following the national team's defeat against the Kosovan team in mid-October, a result that made automatic qualification from their World Cup group out of reach

Present Standing

The Swedish team are currently bottom in their qualifying group having only a single point from their opening four games

Even if they don't manage to finish second, they may yet be involved in the secondary qualification because of their performance in the latest UEFA competition
